Meeting with Chestnut Tree House!

  • Posted

On the 18th February, Dawson Hart were very pleased to have the opportunity to meet with Tracey Luker.  Tracey is head of fundraising within the East Sussex area for Chestnut Tree House. The Charity is Dawson Hart’s Charity of the year for 2016 and was chosen by members of staff at Dawson Hart, together with our clients and contacts during our Christmas drinks at the end of last year.

Chestnut Tree House was established in 2003 and is a Children’s Hospice based between Worthing and Arundel. They provide support and care for over 300 children with life limiting conditions aged between 0-19. As well as the care they provide for the children they also offer support for their families which includes respite care, bereavement counselling and psychological support.

Their aim is to offer the highest quality of life, laughter and love at a time when it is most needed. To do this they require £3.5m on a yearly basis which enables them continue the much needed work that they are able to deliver.   Chestnut Tree House only receives 7% of this sum via government funding, meaning that the rest is made up from fundraising activities, such as their yearly “Night to Remember” 10 mile walk and their “Cambodia Trek”.

Dawson Hart are participating in various fundraising activities throughout the year in order to raise as much money as possible to help towards such a great cause.

Our first fundraising event is being kicked off by the Dawson Hart Easter Egg Hunt taking place on Friday 25th March at 10.30 the Uckfield Rugby Club. The event will include face painting and a bouncy castle which should make for a great morning.

We are looking forward to working with Chestnut Tree House throughout 2016 in order to raise the charity’s profile throughout East Sussex whilst raising as much money as we can for them!

Raya and Megan.
