A new member of the Private Client Team

We are pleased to announce that Jo Claxton, a solicitor, has joined our Private Client team.

Jo has been looking after private clients for over 7 years and qualified as a Solicitor 4 years ago.  Jo is married with 2 adult children and her passion, when she is not at work, is her two Cockapoos.

The Private Client department covers specialist areas of law and they assist clients at some of the most difficult times of their lives and arguably none more so than the loss of a loved one.  We help our clients to deal with the estates of a loved one who has died.  For many, the thought of having to deal with the tax man, Probate Registry and the mass of paperwork is daunting.  This is of course understandable.  We will guide you and take the weight off your shoulders, helping to protect the personal representatives, who often have personal liability if things go wrong.

Our Private Client team are also experts in Will writing and estate planning.  We pride ourselves in ensuring that a client’s loved ones and hard-earned assets are properly protected and always create the most effective Will for their needs.

Of course, sometimes a person may lose the ability to be able to make decisions for themselves while they are alive.  We advise on and prepare Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA), so that clients can feel secure that if they had an accident or illness, their affairs could be taken care of by people they can trust.  Where the person has already lost the ability to make their own decisions, then we can also assist their loved ones to make Court of Protection applications, including Deputyships and other specialist applications.

As part of our estate planning expertise, we also advise clients on setting up Will or lifetime trusts and can assist with the administration of trusts, including advising trustees on their responsibilities.

Dawson Hart are also often asked to act as executor, trustee or attorney for clients for example if family live abroad or are unable to act. If it becomes necessary to do so, then our Private Client team have the knowledge and expertise to manage the affairs of a person during their lifetime and this often extends into their death, ensuring a seamless transition.

We are here to help, so please contact  Jo Claxton or any member of the the Private Client team on 01825 762281 for an initial chat as to how we can assist you.
