Dawson Hart 2023 Roundup: Celebrating Achievements, Additions, and Community Commitment

Welcome to the Dawson Hart 2023 Roundup. It has been a great year for Dawson Hart and we are excited to show you what we have been up to.

In 2023 we have seen four new additions to the Dawson Hart Family; Jo Claxton (Private Client Solicitor), Tom Duc (Marketing Assistant), Stefan Banks (Commercial Property Solicitor) and Karen Pratt (Commercial Property Assistant). To read more about each of them, click the links attached.

This year the Dawson Hart charity has been the Uckfield Foodbank. We felt that particularly in this time of financial stress, a helping hand and a nutritious meal goes a long way for so many, and that's why we dedicated ourselves to honouring their work with our events. It has been a pleasure working with their team and we are glad that we have been able to help their work.

Throughout the year, we have hosted and participated in several fundraising events for the foodbank, such as our  Good Friday Easter Egg Hunt, Cyclothon and our Barn Dance. In total, we have raised over £6300 for the foodbank, which is our biggest total ever recorded, and we are incredibly proud. Our fundraising team have done an amazing job in organising, marketing and running these events to make them a success, and we can’t wait for this to continue throughout 2024.

This year, Dawson Hart have sponsored several clubs, events and EXPOs, including Crowborough Athletic U15s, Ashdown Radio’s Young Person of the Year Award, and the Uckfield EXPO. Dawson Hart are committed to giving back to the local Sussex community who we are so proud to be a part of, and we are excited to see how we can continue to give back in 2024.

This year we had a full assessment from Lexcel that we passed with flying colours. Lexcel is a Law Society accreditation indicating quality in relation to legal practice management standards. Our assessor said that Dawson Hart ‘continues to demonstrate a very high standard in practice management’ and that ‘the firm is to be commended in that 20 areas of good practice were identified during the assessment’. We are extremely proud of the high standards that the firm continues to uphold in our areas of practice, and we will continuously strive for improvement where we can as we look to 2024.

Our team have also been given recognition by the Wellbeing at Work committee within the East Sussex County Council, as we achieved the Wellbeing at Work Bronze award in just 6 months after beginning the journey. This is virtually unheard of amongst all businesses, and it’s a testament to the Wellbeing Team’s work towards making every employee voice heard and providing a comfortable work environment that facilitates communication. In 2024, we are aiming to achieve the Silver award, and to continue to prioritise employee mental wellbeing.

To wrap up our year, we hosted a Christmas Drinks event at the Soiree Lounge Bar, which saw some of our longest-standing clients, business relationships and friends of the Dawson Hart Team join us for festive celebrations. The event was a resounding success, and we were extremely grateful for everyone showing up and supporting us.

This has been an amazing year and we’ve achieved some great things thanks to the support of so many. Whether you’re an existing client, community member, sponsor, supporter of our events or a fresh face, we thank you for your support this year, and extend our hope that you continue to support us as we progress to 2024.
